Need biopsy: A uterine lining, called "endometrial stripe" or "thickness", of 11 mm measured on ultrasound is not normal after menopause. Experts recommend biopsy for stripe >5 mm. Thickening can be sign of xs estrogen effect on uterus.Progesterone can reverse this & prevent uterine cancer. Side effects of Progesterone can be weight gain, mood swings , skin changes & unknown effects on breast health.

Bleeding: 11 mm is too thick in a post menopausal woman. Most drs would recommend an endometrial biopsy to be sure there is no precancerous tissue or cancer. Progesterone can be given to cause the lining to be shed (bleeding).
