Evaluation: May be warranted but the most common issue if it is. It an infection may be arthritis. Low grade swelling may also accompany a trigger digit. If the swelling is significant infection either slow growing material such as fungal or atypical bacteria vs beacon ern. Finally the arthritis that one sees on the little finger distal joint close to the nail is common location. Hand surgeons can help tell.
