I have heard that putting table salt on a wound or cut will stop it from bleeding , help fight infection and help it heal faster. is this true?

Salt in wound: Is a valid technique for wound care, called mesalt, a salt impregnated gauze. However it is not as powerful as you suggest and table salt is not recommended. Check with your doc or a wound care center.

Use your eyes: Never put anything into a wound you would put into your eye. Salt causes the wound to dry which is bad. Air is bad for healing as it causes scabs which prevent healthy tissue from filling in the depths and the elastic wound edges from pulling themselves in. Forget the salt and use a nice, painless bandage available at your favorite drugstore and change it every two to three days. Simple is better.
