A member asked:

Does an oophorectomy affect a woman's libido?

Libido: It all depends if both ovaries were removed. If it were, it is similar to male castration and your main source of female hormones are removed. However, other organs/glands of your body secrete small amounts of the other hormones including testosterone which is responsible for libido.

Yes: If you had both your ovaries removed then your main production of estrogen has been taken away, and this hormone does play a role in libido in women. Talk to your gyn about your treatment options.
