Can poison ivy have a lasting effect on the nurves , muscles or bones?

No: Poison ivy causes a reaction on the skin. The sap from the leaves of the ivy is an irritant to the skin causing the body's immune system to activate and histamine is released. This causes the redness and itching. The sap does not penetrate deep enough to effect the nerves, muscles or bones.

Highly doubt it: Contact dermatitis due to ivy/oak/summac are superficial conditions which can be quite severe/bothersome, but often should heal completely. Caladryl/calamide and/or Hydrocortisone may help a bit, but these are quite weak. Oral Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may help with itching. If you have it bad and above measures don't help, u may need to see doc for stronger meds via prescriptions. Good luck.
