What is the difference between eczema and seborrheic dermatitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Genetics: Eczema /atopic dermatitis usually inherited. The parents have a history of asthma and allergies. Eczema - immune system problems and a weak skin barrier. Weak skin barrier can come from a mutation in the filaggrin gene. Seborrheic dermatitis cause unknown perhaps due to a common fungus. Primarily affects areas of skin with oil glands. Red bumps on face, neck. Also "cradle cap" yellow scalp flakes.
