Depends: Firstly, you need to have diagnosis as to which type of lesions you have, apthous ulcers or herpes simplex virus. Apthous ulcers can have only palliative treatment to remove discomfort and usually resolve in 7-10 days. Hetpes lesions are leftovers from chicken pox and the virus is retained for life. It is usually brought to the surface by stress, lack of sleep, or extreme weather conditions.
