A member asked:

It possible to have just have lupus arthritis, without the actual lupus disease?

Yes: Lupus (sle) causes a nonspecific, non-crippling arthritis in the small joints of the hands and wrists. Deformities are rare, but, if they occur they are reversible as they are due to tendon and ligament laxity, not bone erosions as in rheumatoid arthritis. Other rheumatic diseases can show the same type of arthritis.
