A member asked:

Painful menstruation. best drugs?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No best drug: Unfortunately, what causes menstrual cramps is not fully understood. Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) are typically recommended. These include ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, indomethacin, celecoxib, oxaprozin, and piroxicam. Some of them have more serious side effects than others. Women may respond differently to the same drug. Going on hormonal birth control pills should be tried.
