Depo-progesterone ?: Depo-progesterone can suspend ovulation, but your ovarian estrogen will continue to be produced, creating a thickened endometrium which eventually will break down causing bleeding. Painful bleeding may be related to the severity of uterine contractions. See your gyn physician for an exam and testing to confirm the cause.
