Why would someone need a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy?

If one: Has symptoms or signs that can't be clearly related to either the lower intestinal tract or upper tract, both procedures may be indicated. For example bleeding may be related to pathology at either site. Anothe reason is if patients are having several symptoms, some related to upper and others related to lower tract.
