What is the difference between acne and acne scar treatments?

Two important facets: Acne treatment consists of many different modalities (cleansers, antibiotics, exfoliants, retinoids, light based treatments, injections etc...) to control the disease over time and minimize complications, one of the worst being permanent scarring. Acne scar treatment is also multi modality including skin resurfacing treatments (mechanical, chemical and laser), fillers and surgical excision.
