An early example: A typical 6-month old learns by accident that when he raises his arms , mom picks him up. He tries it a few more times & is rewarded by mom's leaning down, smiling & saying, "up? You want up?"mom is happy about the new developmental milestone. Baby is happy that he can get mom to pick him up.This baby has normal social communication & reciprocity that a 6 mo.-old with "autism" does not have.
