False importance: Delusions are beliefs detached from a generally accepted "reality" as most people would define it. For example, a middle aged man thinks he is going to play for the seattle mariners, although he has never played baseball, or more extreme, a woman who believes she has been contacted by aliens to save the human race. Delusions are usually firmly held and not very amenable to change.
