Yes: But it is very unlikely. We see far more arthritis in patients who are overweight and don't exercise than in runners who keep their weight under control.

Yes, but...: That is if you run to the point of injury; several studies have shown no association between long distance running and development of knee osteoarthritis; family history, history of injury/trauma to the knee, and obesity are risk factors--you are better off running (just not to the point of overuse injury) than not running--it will help keep your weight down and has numerous other health benefits.
