Yes: There are many different types of "arthritis" and many effect younger people. It is the autoimmune/inflammatory arthritides that typically affect younger patients.

Juvenile Arthritis: Yes, or even earlier. There are hundreds of thousands of children affected by arthritis and rheumatologic conditions. While there is active ongoing research, the cause/causes of most forms of juvenile arthritis is not known. Consult a pediatric rheumatologist if someone you are concerned for someone you know.
