Any age; Swelling: Infants can get arthritis--although this is not very common. Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is not uncommon in kids as young as 2 years-old but can develop as a type of chronic inflammatory arthritis at any age. The major symptom of inflammatory arthritis is joint swelling but can also involve joint warmth (warmer than normal joints), morning stiffness in joints, and often (not always) joint pain.
