Oral hygiene: There are really no medications, or diet that can prevent tonsil stones. They are calcified debris from the mouth and to some extent the nasal cavity. Preventing accumulation of debris in you mouth with salt water rinses after meals, good oral hygiene, (including tongue scraping), and nasal lavages if congestion is present, can help. If dramatic symptoms persist, tonsil removal is an option.
