First Line Therapy: For minor inflammatory acne with no cystic lesions, consider a topical 10% benzoyl peroxide cleanser followed by use of topical antibiotic twice per day. Cleanser should be left on several minutes- no harsh scrubbing. Gently wash off cleanser and apply topical antibiotic (i.e. Clindamycin top sol) gently and let dry. Detergents/soaps used on skin can dry skin and increase redness.
