Ice it: I would like to know how you know it's a nerve? Nerves are not so easily visible at that anatomical location. Incidently, if it is gout you are experiencing the ice will make it hurt more.

Couple of things: Soak in epsom salt & warm water to ease the swelling. Take aleve (naproxen). It sounds like you have gout. You should see a doctor.
