A member asked:

If someone's having a heart attack. wouldn't their blood pressure and pulse be low or they would have another prominent symptom right?

Variable: During a heart attack, BP can be normal, high or low. Low, if due to injury, is a poor prognostic sign. Hr can be low (often occurs when the inferior wall is involved), normal or high. High is a bad prognostic sign.

See below: No, the pulse is usually high and so is the blood pressure unless that someone is in cardiogenic shock, when it would be low and they should be in an intensive care unit. The most common symptom of a heart attack is chest pain. For someone your age, if you are athletic and have a previously unknown heart problem, you can have low hr and bp, get checked! if you use drugs, stop!
