Varies: I am sorry to hear about your mother's illness. There is no easy answer on this--i have seen spans of weeks to years. A lot has to do with her pre-illness condition, amount of weight loss, symptoms, time in the hospital. I try in my own practice to emphasize "quality of life" as more important than "quantity of life." i have seen people do better than expected; maintain realistic hope.
