Post extraction : There should be no reason not treat canned soup after extractions as long as the bleeding has stopped and the soup is only warmed and not hot.

Yes, eat chowder: Keep the food away from the extraction site. Try to make sure the clot takes by disturbing it as little as possible to begin with. You are on the right track to eat soup or other soft foods. I am not familiar with a reason why you ought to avoid dairy for 2 weeks.

Ask your dentist: Softer foods like this are usually ok following extractions, but each case is different, and you should really ask your dentist to be safe.

Don't see why not.: Not sure why no dairy for two weeks. My concerns for extractions are no hot or spicy foods, no alcohol and no smoking for at least two days. After that depends on the patient. If you keep the clam chowder only warmish, you should be fine.

Enjoy: I dont understand why the limitation on fresh dairy, but canned clam chowder wouldnt seem to fall under that category anyway. Just make sure you dont create suction and disturb the blood clot.
