No need to increase.: There is a u-shaped curve describing the relationship between perinatal mortality and maternal hemoglobin; the minimal risk for perinatal mortality is with minimum maternal hemoglobin of 9-11 g/dl. You can therefore, see that continuing your oral iron supplementation is all you need to do at this time. If your hemoglobin drops below 8.5 g/dl, you may want to increase your iron and red meat intake.
