A member asked:

I have a brown muccus discharge from my anus. should i be concerned?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mucus anal discharge: Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, & even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum. At the very least, discuss your new finding with your doctor who knows you best & can advise what treatment &/or testing is needed.
