How long does it take for a colon polyp to become cancerous?

Varies: Some colon polyps are cancer from the start and others are precancerous and if not removed can become malignant. All polyps found at colonoscopy should be removed and you should have reasonable follow up colonoscopies for recurrences of polyps at a reasonable interval.
