Supportive care: CP is a simple label for a complex collection of issues. The disorder of movement & posture is oft helped by physical & occupational therapy. Yet the child may also have vision, learning, communication, behavior & other pbs.A learned primary physician or CP clinic can coordinate the many added services needed for improved outcome.

Neurologic disorder: Cerebral palsy is due to a brain injury sustained before age two. The brain injury is stable, but the manifestations of the injury can change. Once you have been diagnosed with cp, you always have it. The treatments for CP are based around the manifestations. Some children need treatment for seizures or orthopaedic issues (among others) while other children need little additional help.

Needed therapies: People with cerebral may have many deficits. Physical therapy is used to improve movement. this is often combined with bracing and if necessary, doctors may prescribe medications to relieve the increase in tone. Botox injections may also be used to improve movement. Speech, occupational therapies and special education services can also be helpful.
