A 44-year-old member asked:
willsleeping more help a fractured bone to deal faster?
2 doctor answers • 3 doctors weighed in

Dr. Jeffrey Sider answered
Sports Medicine 39 years experience
Not really: A fracture will take a certain amount of time
to heal depending on the type and location
if you are a healthy individual, there is not
much you can really do to make it heal faster
if you have some medical or electrolyte or
vitamin deficiencies, you might benefit from
having those corrected first.

No: Not at all. Unless, the fracture is in your foot and this keeps you off of your foot.

A callus: The bone with a fracture heals with a callus. That is the bodies attempt to create an internal cast. This is strong enough to allow a broken bone to be out of a cast. This usually takes six weeks in the arms and longer in the legs.
