SARS: The 2003 Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome is theorized to have begun in Chinese Horseshoe bats (genus Rhinolophus) acting as reservoir with the masked palm civets(Paguma larvata)being the intermediate host spreading SARS CoV virus. REF: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17848070. It caused significant respiratory problems and deaths before the virus died out.
