Menstrual Cycle: Normal menstrual cycle is every 28 days (21-35 days normal), with about 5 days of bleeding (2-8 days normal). Some spotting a few days before your expected period is normal.

Mostly a nuisance: Bleeding midcycle when on the birth control pill is referred to as breaththrough bleeding and is often seen at the end of the cycle as you describe. It may have no particular significance but make sure that you are taking all of your pills on time and are on no other medications (antibiotics in particular) that might interfere with the pill.
