Diaphragm...: When you bend over to put on shoes, your diaphragm has less space to expend, which would allow you to take deeper breaths. When you are bent over like that you can only get shallow breaths. When you sit back up, your body tries to make up for the lack of deep breaths by making you breathe heavier for a while.
