Multiple reasons: A sharp pain radiating into the leg can be indicative of multiple problems including a strained muscle, a pinched nerve, tendonitis, neuropathy (a problem with the nerves in the legs), or blood flow issues. Several possible : Causes including a disc herniation or annular tear of a disc. Peripheral vascular disease & spinal stenosis can cause pain into leg mimicking sciatic pain as can hip & knee arthritis. Other causes of nerve compression in spine due to tumor, infection or fracture can be a cause. Pyriformis syndrome or sacroiliac joint issue can cause leg pain. Intrapelvic lesion can too as can lyme or shingles.
