If high enough- DKA: Diabetes in babies is very unusual. It isn't easy to diagnose because babies wet diapers a lot and they can't explain that they don't feel well. It's usually when they're quite ill, with diabetic ketoacidosis that the diagnosis is made. The treatment can be dangerous when giving IV fluid/insulin if not closely monitored. A pediatric endocrinologist has to care for these babies.
