Highly variable: The spectrum of CMT varies in terms of age of onset, type of heredity, and characteristics of nerve pathology. If the coverings of the nerve only are involved, outcome better than if the central axon involved. An EMG study would be very helpful regarding this prognosis. However, several subtypes are known and there is a broad spectrum of severity. See a neuromuscular expert at local med school.
