Which medication should i avoid prior to having your laser spine procedure?

PreSurgical meds: I am not a surgeon, but i know you should avoid Aspirin or products containing aspirin. This would include alka selzer, b c powders, pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) as well as other preparations. These substances act as blood thinners and increase bleeding complications. Ginkgo biloba can have similar affects. Be sure and check with your surgeon, they probably have a list of what to avoid. Good luck.

A medication to : Avoid this procedure in the first place! get a second opinion before considering this surgery and make sure you had 11 weeks of good nonop care. Otherwise, avoid any fish oil, aspirin, non steroidal anti inflammatory medication and any blood thinner like Coumadin (warfarin) or Plavix for at least a week but check with your medical doctor first to make sure you are allowed to be off them safely.
