Perhaps: The vagus nerve carries autonomic information to the heart and bowels. It travels from the brainstem (cranial nerve 10), along structures in the neck, then along large blood vessels to the organs of the body. The parasympathetic ganglia can involve vagal nerve fibers at different locations deep in the body. If there is overgrowth of these ganglia, there can develop a ganglionoma.
