Swelling control: Rest, immobilize, ice, compress. Generally if it hurts to walk on it i recommend crutches until it doesn't hurt to walk on it. Then walk with a cam walking boot and wean into a lace up brace as you can tolerate. Have you seen a md to make sure there is no fracture?

See doctor: X-rays should be taken to make sure no fractures accompanied the sprain. Ice it, antiinflammatories and try not to walk on it. The ankle should be in a brace.
