Is prospan ivy leaf extract cough syrup safe in pregnancy?

We simply don't know: While I am inclined to say it is probably ok, we do not have enough information and no formal studies to say one way or another. Demonstrating safety or hazard is much more difficult than you may realize. That is why we always err on the side of caution during pregnancy and take things only when clearly indicated and of proven benefit.

Prospan is a dried : Ivy leaf extract in syrup form that is used to treat bronchial inflammation ; cough. It is pregnancy category c. Drugs.Com defines fda category c as “animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus ; there are no adequate ; well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.” don't recommend use.
