Stool takes up room: Your poo sits in the end of the colon waiting to exit. It competes for space with the bladder. If you have backed up poo, it stretches the end of the colon pushing into the space that the bladder wants to fill. If you have retained poo in a dilated colon, your bladder is compressed & holds less pee. Smaller bladder space means you pee more often.
