A member asked:

By what i have been told i have a bacterial infection could a bacterial infection linger on for months if its untreated ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It can, depends: Some bacterial infections, like a chronic pneumonia or a topical skin infection like impetigo, can persist for a few weeks to months. More likely, they would get worse until they were unbearable or caused an abscess. They do eventually go away by themselves at times, but like the olden days, they also used to kill people when unchecked or untreated.
