Control uric acid: People with gout have elevated uric acid levels. Uric acid in the tissues becomes monosodium urate crystals. These crystals form in the joints of patients with gout. The way to control these crystals is to lower the level of uric acid. There are medicines to lower the production of uric acid, or to more rapidly remove uric acid crystals from the body. Your evaluation will decide which is the best therapy for you.

For immediate pain: Hot water soaks ( without burning), antiinflammatories. And avoid the foods that cause the elevation of uric acid. Ideally, visit your doctor because gout is not just an inflammed painful joint, it has effects on your kidney and heart function as well so this needs to be kept in mind. Controlling your uric acid levels below 6.0 is part of the treatment goal o nice you get an attack.
