Spotting: Brown discharge means very light bleeding is going on. If you are having irregular periods you should see a doctor or other provider to figure out the cause. There are several possibilities - perhaps a fibroid or polyp, polycystic ovarian syndrome, low grade pelvic infection - these are just a few.
