Yes, due to estrogen: Estrogen causes certain cells in the pituitary gland called lactotrophs to increase production of the prolactin hormone. High levels of estrogen naturally occur in pregnancy, thereby increasing prolactin, which increases breast size and milk production, allowing the mother to subsequently breast-feed. Oral contraceptive pills that contain estrogen can also increase prolactin levels.

Decreases prolactin: When estrogen and Progesterone levels drop post-partum, prolactin levels increase and induce lactation. Suppressing lactation can be accomplished by increasing estrogen. Though bromocriptene is most successful in decreasing prolactin and lactation, going on ocp's can also help to suppress lactation by lowering prolactin levels.
