A member asked:

If a person has hsv simplex 1, and has a healed cold sore and that person drinks from a cup and then washes it, will the virus be in the cup?

Unlikely: Healed cold sores can still shed virus, but usually much less than an open, active cold sore. The virus is also quite fragile and washing utensils/cups in warm soapy water will get rid of any virus on the utensil/cup.
