Current status: Outside of north america, europe & australia, there are not many lung transplant centers that routinely perform lung transplants for CF patients. Between jan 1995 & june 2011, a total of 5, 469 double lung transplants have been done for CF patients (ishlt data 2012), majority of the recipients being adults with cf. CF patients make up 26% of all lung transplants done worldwide.
