Eye witness: Pain in the eye needs to be checked, but the likely reason is a hordeolum-or stye. Warm compresses resolve these faster. Use a clean hot wash cloth several times an hour. As it may be an infection, you may need antibiotic drops. Boric acid eye wash can relieve some of the sting before you see a doctor.
