Many: Several genetic disorders can affect linear growth. These include the chromosomal problems downs syndrome & turner syndrome. There are many other acquired reasons for poor growth including thyroid hormone deficiency and bowel and kidney disease. Careful monitoring of growth by a pediatrician or family doc is recommended for all children with referral to an endocrinologist when growth is abnormal.
