Can a pregnancy test be wrong if taken too soon?

Yes: They can be false positive (say your pregnant when you're really not) or false negative (say you're not pregnant when you really are). The most common cause for a test being wrong is user error.

Yes: If you have been sexually active and have missed your period then you can go ahead and take a home pregnancy test (HPT) now. If negative and still no period would repeat HPT in a week. Take care.
