What's the difference between pseudoseizures and epilepsy?

Nonepileptic szs: A true epileptic event appears in a stereotypical repetitive fashion and demonstrates a consistent appearance and sequence. A pseudoseizure is somewhat bizarre and varies from spell to spell. Eeg's may show true seizure activity, but are normal with pseudoseizure activity. Pseudoseizures are expressions of psychosomatic events.

The basics: The wording suggests that whatever motor activity or change in state of alertness that has been labeled as seizures are not. It suggests the system created these as a defensive mechanism to some issue, often subconscious. Such a label would suggest no need for seizure meds but would benefit from talk therapy to explore how they came to be.
