FIT: Test can be false positive in the face of obvious blood loss such as a cut in the rectum. However, that is unusual . The fit is more specific for bleeding in the lower intestinal tract. A positive result should prompt further evaluation. Usually, that evaluation would be a colonoscopy - particularly if the patient is 40 or older. Discuss options with your doctor.
